SENIOR ORCHESTRA
We are proud of the growth and improvement of our Senior Orchestra from a small group of 10 or 12 players to an orchestra of symphonic character with almost thirty players.
The orchestra has been heard on many occasions besides the usual assembly programs. Especially noteworthy were the programs given at the Masonic Temple for the Rotarians, an invitation program played for the junior High School during music week and the overtures which were played at the earlier school plays and the Red and Blue meet. The orchestra has also assisted the glee clubs on Christmas and Faster programs while a string quartet was featured at the Christmas cantata and a Jr. H. S. Christmas program.
Aside from these activities the entire orchestra prepared the music which was used at the May Festival in White Plains.
We are especially proud of the high commendation given the players by Dr. Rebmann, Director of Music of the Westchester Festival, who personally examined them and found twelve who qualified for the AllHighSchool Orchestra.
Among the composers represented on the various programs were: Gluck, Handel, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Greig, Waldtenfel, Grainger, Stoessel and Bloch. The orchestra will close a busy season by participating in the commencement exercises.
Though we shall miss the services of Donald Hayes our concertmaster who is graduating this year, we are looking forward to a bigger and even better orchestra next season under the very capable leadership of Mr. Konnerth.
